Yahoo

Yahoo, is one of the oldest online service oriented sites of the web. From it's early days as a search engine, it has grown into one of the biggest sites on the web today. It has expanded to the entertainment, and chat world unlike any site in the recent history of the internet. With it's mutlitude of themed chat rooms, and it's music area named "Launch" a person can to Yahoo, and never leave for days. Although Yahoo is a great success in what it has evolved to now, it does have a bit of a downside as well. That downside being it's chat rooms with what most define as chat bots, and the booters. These have become an almost total annoyance to the people who would just like to just go and chat with others. These bots PM / IM you right from the get go, and you spend the first few moments of your room visit just wading through them to get to actual chatters. The other being booters, who in my opinion are people with too much time on their hands, trying to knock you offline. It has become a worsening problem, and I fear in time it will be the demise of this otherwise really excellent chat site. So be forewarned, if you have never experienced Yahoo's chat, be at the ready with your ignore option.

So now back to the positive side of Yahoo. First there is Launch. Launch.com is where you can go and watch hundreds of different music videos streamed right to your desktop. Yahoo offers a vast array of music styles, and even has some of the oldies that won't be found anywhere else on the net. I myself visit Launch many times, and it even allows you to vote for the artists as well. The videos stream for the most part runs very smooth with very few freeze ups, or errors (also depending on your connection speed). So this is a part of Yahoo I urge you to try out. Yahoo also offers a match maker style program. I have not myself tried this service, but I'm sure some have and maybe even have found success doing so. As far as chat rooms there is an alternative too, Yahoo's Instant Messenger. You won't get booted or attacked by bots using it, and you just got to love their little smileys :-)

But let us not forget where it all began. Yahoo still remains a top contender in the search engine arena, and being one of the oldest I am sure it will continue being so. In the early times it was pretty much Yahoo, and Excite as the two most used search engines on the web. If one wasnt working or didn't list something, the other one would. So all in all I will still give Yahoo a 2 thumbs up for their efforts, and maintaining their "for the people" theme.. I just hope someday they resolve the chat room issues :-) ..Thanks
